Haunted Humor by hejibits
This disappeared from my page.
These two billboards I found in my subway station. In my neighborhood that is 99.98% Arab. Also, 98.98 % Muslims. In addition, a great majority of those Arab Muslims are Palestinians. I saw these the beginning of the week, since we relocated. However, I never got the chance to take a picture of them. Today however, I did. Excuse the poor quality of my iPhone camera, but that does but that doesn’t take away from how offensive and hurtful this shit is. They contradict each other and I was confused. I took a second look and went back to capture the shots. Trying to understand what this is really; an older White woman, with all grey hair pulled back into two braides and a little fringe, who saw me being appalled at the billboards and photographed them walked up to me.
She said: ” did you see these billboards? How offensive is that? Especially, to put them up on THIS neighborhood? I can believe it.” I told her it has been here all week, and she said: “it’s been here all week, huh? In surprised no one just “wishhh” *rip hand motion* it is a little out on the end but no one took it down. Wow.” and then she walked away. Wallahy, I was holding back my tears.
She got on the same cart as me, and I wanted to go speak to her— I just did not know what to say. I wanted to hug her so bad. You know people with these mentalities and understandings and this well informed, they just capture my heart.
I’ve been trying to rip out the grey one allllll week, but the subway kept coming. UNTIL TODAY WHEN I WENT TO DO IT, SOMEONE HAD ALREADY TOOK IT DOWN!
